NUCLEP AND BRAZILIAN NAVY, A PARTNERSHIP THAT MAKES HISTORY.

Accredited by the Ministry of Defense as one of the first Strategic Defense Companies (EEDs) in the country

Created in 1975 to serve the Brazilian Nuclear Program, which is distinguished by its manufacturing capacity, technological expertise and qualified labor, Nuclebrás Equipamentos Pesados SA is one of the first Strategic National Defense companies and one of the main base industries in the country. One of the most important and strategic heavy equipment industries on our continent, owner of its own private maritime terminal and strategically located on the shores of Sepetiba Bay, it has had a successful partnership with the Brazilian Navy for four decades.

Union that celebrates its initial milestone with the construction of the resistant hulls of three conventional submarines of German technology, type IKL, Class Tupi (Tamoio, Timbira and Tapajó) and, subsequently, a Tikuna Class submarine, incorporated into the Brazilian naval fleet in the 90s, and which gave Nuclep recognition as one of the main promoters of the Shipbuilding Industry in the country.

But it is in the early 2000s, as a pioneer in Brazil in the construction of semi-submersible blocks for the Petrobras P-51 and P-56 platforms, that Nuclep consolidates itself as an industry that stimulates the sea economy.

As an institution linked to the Naval and Oil and Gas sectors, Nuclep strengthens itself as a driver for the development of the region resulting from increased productivity, employment and consumption, which transform the metropolitan west of Rio de Janeiro into a true Economic Pole in the industrial-productive branches (metal steel) and logistical-port.

In 2019, strengthening its strategic national role as the only industry in the country capable of building submarines, Nuclep completed the delivery of the resistant hulls of the last of the four conventional submarines of French technology, type Scorpène, Riachuelo Class (Riachuelo, Humaitá, Tonelero and Angostura) that serve the Submarine Development Program (PROSUB).
The sum of forces between Navy and Nuclep not only stimulates the economy of the sea but strengthens the protection of the Brazilian maritime area. It is important to maintain the safety and preservation of our marine resources to ensure sustainable development.

As a reference company in the national nuclear sector and the only one capable of manufacturing and maintaining the most important and strategic nuclear equipment in the nation, Nuclep will also be responsible for the construction of the first Nuclear Propulsion Submarine in Brazil (SN-BR), Álvaro Alberto, having been the conquest together with Amazônia Azul Technologies of Defense SA (Amazul), of the construction work for Block 40 - for making the prototype of the nuclear reactor which is being developed by the Brazilian Navy (MB) for the SN- BR - your starting moment.
