NUCLEP was founded in December 1975 with the purpose to design and fabricate heavy components to primary circuit of nuclear power plants. It was a strategic decision because Brazil, at the time, had not any company able to perform the task or to act in that advanced industrial sector.

After 25 years, continuos improvement in process and production, NUCLEP is a mature and experienced company with a very efficient system of quality control and warranties. Its first class products have been extensively tested and proved in the Brazilian Nuclear power plants Angra II. NUCLEP is located in Itaguai, 53 miles southeast of the city of Rio de Janeiro, on the Rio-Santos Highway (BR-101), and is also served by Mangaratiba railway. It has its own Maritime Terminal with roll-on-roll-off facilities with a 2,204,000 pounds single cargo capacity, connected to the plant by a 1,8 miles private access way, specially reinforced to support loads weighting up to 86000 pounds per wagon axis.

The factory is built on a 1200000 sqyd site with a covered area of 960000 sqyd. The main production shed made up of six geminated 200m long by 160m wide, providing a load handling capacity of up 600 ton, that can, in special situations, reach 900 ton. Since 1994, NUCLEP has the ISO9001 certificate, number 31087.


NUCLEP's facilities show all the mightiness of its industrial projects. The factory is built in a 1 million square meter area and 80000 of them are shed assembly. The main shed is made of six geminated sections, each one having 200 meters length and 160 meters width. It means a nominal capability to move up 600 tons cargo and in special situations can reach 900 tons. This means a very peculiar position in both national and international scenery.


NUCLEP's factory is located in a very strategic position supported by the BR 101 - RIO DE JANEIRO - SANTOS HIGHWAY, the MANGARATIBA RAILWAY and has an additional facility of a private maritime terminal. All those transport structure are in the board line of NUCLEP's area.

NUCLEP's products are heavy, large and sometimes indivisible. For those reasons the factory was built near the sea and the project included a private terminal maritime facility to support cargo transport requirements. A roll-on-roll-off terminal is linked to the factory by a 3 km road specially paved to ensure transportation of indivisible cargo up to 1000 ton on a truck with capacity of 39 ton in each axle.

In December 1997, NUCLEP did a leasing of this private terminal with LACHMANN GROUP in order to improve the operational capability, increase the utilization and at the same time assure priority to embark NUCLEP's cargos.
