NUCLEP was inaugurated on May 8th, 1980, and currently houses one of the largest heavy boilers in the world. Being, at that time, a high-tech manufacturing pioneer in the country, its installation and assembly required qualified personnel at levels and standards often non-existent in our labor market. It was a strategic decision to create the Technical Training Center to train and develop part of its workforce, especially those whose activity requires an elementary school level of education.
This Training Center, currently the Plant Education Unit, trains the specialized workforce in the subject of metal-mechanics to serve, mainly, the needs of the Company, where training programs are prepared, planned and developed, training and improvement for the workforce, youths and adults, with the objective of improving the work performed in the plant.
The training courses and continuous improvement, combined with the experience already acquired in previously performed projects enable NUCLEP to be prepared and qualified to develop their own technical solutions and operate in both the sophisticated sector of nuclear components manufacturing and regular manufacturing.
Aware of its role as an inducing agent for the training of a specialized workforce, in order to train young people for their first job, NUCLEP generates its own qualified labor within the standards required by the Company in response to their manufacturing needs, as well to provide technical reserves for the country, meeting the strategies for specific demand for the Brazilian nuclear and heavy equipment industry.
External recognition to the Company's social responsibility work, which is supported by the Education Department of the State of Rio de Janeiro and the Mayor of the City of Itaguaí / RJ, declared in 2005 by means of the following achievements:
- Agreement entered into with the Ministry of Education - MEC that allowed the inclusion of teaching design of the Professional Training Course provided by the Company in the Federal Program of the Plant Education Unit, where the company has become part of the Plant National Network of Education Units, where the goal is to install 500 Plant education units, forming one thousand young people in different segments of the labor world;
- Obtaining the Seal of 2004 Social Responsibility from CREA / RJ (Regional Council of Engineering and Architecture of Rio de Janeiro) for Technological First Employment Project developed by NUCLEP Training Technical Center, today Plant Education Unit, through its Professional Training Course, taught since 1978.
